The Websites Team is responsible for all aspects of the Nationwide website estate. Our purpose is to ensure customers receive a simply brilliant experience every time they interact with us online. As a Website Product Owner, you’ll play a critical role in shaping and delivering that experience. You’ll own a defined area of the website estate, setting direction, prioritising work, and ensuring we deliver measurable outcomes for both customers and the business. This Product Owner role will be responsible for Business Banking. This is a 9-month Fixed Term Contract opportunity.

There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events in one of our office sites. This is anticipated to be monthly in Swindon.

Responsibilities

As the Website Product Owner, you’ll own the backlog and roadmap for your area of the website, app and internet bank, setting a clear direction that is aligned to business priorities and understood across your team. You’ll turn strategy into well-shaped epics and user stories, making sure work is focused, visible and delivering real value. You’ll drive performance across our online journeys, using data and insight to spot opportunities, improve customer experiences and prioritise activity that strengthens engagement and conversion.

Working across a cross-functional team, you’ll bring together Content, Design, Insight, SEO and Operations to deliver joined-up, high-quality experiences. From early ideas through to live delivery, you’ll ensure everything lands in a consistent and customer-focused way. As the accountable owner for your product area, you’ll build strong relationships across Marketing, Product and COO teams, keeping priorities aligned and decisions clear. You’ll also make sure everything we deliver meets the right standards for quality, compliance and governance, maintaining alignment with regulatory and accessibility requirements so our digital estate remains accurate, compliant and customer focused.

About you

As a minimum, you’ll have:

  • Experience working as a Product Owner, or in a similar role, within a digital or website environment
  • A strong understanding of website journeys, customer behaviour and performance metrics
  • Proven experience owning and managing a product backlog, including writing clear epics and user stories, prioritising effectively, and ensuring activity is aligned to team and business goals
  • Experience translating business requirements into clear, delivery ready work
  • Strong decision making and prioritisation skills, with a clear focus on delivering customer and business outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to senior stakeholders and wider teams
  • Strong influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and build alignment across teams
