Description

Strategic Business Services (SBS) is a Credit Risk, 2nd line of defence team who provide support to business customers facing financial difficulties with the objective of protecting members interests through enhanced asset quality and loss minimisation.

The team is predominantly based in Glasgow and Leeds and deal with Stage 2 “Watch” or Stage 3 “Non-Performing” businesses. Customer files referred to SBS typically range from £100k debt upwards SME’s up to multi-million pound corporate connections. - covering all industry sectors and geographies. SBS use in-house expertise, and where appropriate also bring in 3rd party specialists (legal / accountancy / sector experts) in delivering customer strategies.

The primary objective is to deliver a turnaround in the business performance and repatriate back to Front Line, where turnaround is not feasible, recovery via formal demand is made on the customer to realise any supporting security.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours.


This is a 6-month secondment opportunity.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Head of SBS, the role holder has responsibility for maintenance, compilation, and analysis of several key asset quality tools for SBS. The role holder will provide support and input at regular LT meetings.

The role requires coordination of and the provision of internal and regulatory reporting on behalf of SBS. The role holder will require to build strong relationships within both the team and the wider Society to ensure they are in an informed position.

The role holder is the key interface with 2nd line oversight for all aspects of Integrated Risk Management, specifically on file testing and portfolio reviews.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be / have:

  • An effective Communicator to a senior stakeholder audience and contribution to Regulatory responses

  • An Intermediate level Excel user with ability to use pivots etc to create dashboards

  • Demonstrable experience liaising with SBS file managers and Executives in order to maintain an overall picture of the direction of B&DD compared to plan and ensuring HO SBS is kept informed

  • Own exemplary discretion, given sensitive nature of SBS information

  • Have excellent organisational skills, given LT support element of role
