As an E2 Linux Infrastructure Engineer you will be working within our Business Integration Platform technical delivery team with responsibilities for the build, development and maintenance of our Linux platforms enabling the provision of strong business solutions for some of the Societies key strategic platforms. You will be involved at all stages from Design, build, configure, test and support. As a part of this role, you will join our Linux community to share ideas and collaborate with other professional Linux/Unix engineers.

Whilst this role has a primary focus of RHEL our ethos encompasses that ongoing training is vitally important and the opportunity to increase and further develop skills in technologies such as Ansible, AAP and OpenShift will be encouraged.

For this job you'll be located at our nearest regional office or hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration and in some locations you’ll be expected to spend at least two days a week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, in the office. Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be working within the delivery teams in our heavily regulated environments with a combination of Agile and Dev Ops approaches you will regularly be working across multiple projects working collaboratively with others to build the best solution for Nationwide using your technical leadership skills and SME knowledge to offer advice/consultancy, build systems and work through problems to provide solid working solutions within the RHEL Linux space. Providing guidance and direction to less experienced Engineers to help create fit for purpose designs and/or solutions to meet the team objectives.

About you

You will have experience in providing technical delivery through the design, build and implementation of Red Hat Linux (or another Unix environment).

You will have in depth knowledge & experience of the following:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (8/9) System Administration

  • Ansible and/or Ansible Automation Platform

  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Terraform and Ansible

  • Red Hat OpenShift / Core OS

  • Managing RHEL systems using Red Hat Satellite including subscription management, system build and patching and customisation via Puppet or Ansible.
