We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to work in the Economic Crime Strategy Programme within D&FTD.

Economic Crime keeps the Society and our members safe against both Economic Crime and fraud. We manage the risk to prevent Nationwide knowingly facilitate or appear to facilitate any form of Economic Crime. This particular role will be primarily focused on Fraud.

As a Fraud Project Manager you will be responsible for leading the delivery of fraud prevention, detection, investigation, and customer protection initiatives across Economic Crime. The role ensures that fraud-related projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in line with business, regulatory, and operational requirements. Working across technology, operations, risk, compliance, and business teams, the Fraud Project Manager drives change that strengthens fraud controls, improves customer outcomes, and protects the organisation from financial and reputational loss.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

The Fraud Project Manager will lead the delivery of fraud and economic crime initiatives, coordinating cross-functional teams to implement solutions that strengthen fraud prevention, detection, and customer protection. You will be responsible for planning and managing projects, overseeing risks and dependencies, engaging stakeholders, governing delivery through appropriate forums, and ensuring change is successfully implemented to achieve business, regulatory, and customer outcomes.

The role acts as the link between business, operational, and technology teams, ensuring fraud-related projects are delivered safely, effectively, and in line with strategic objectives.

You’ll be using your own initiative in this role and required to work with a pro-active mindset and an aim to identify, escalate and resolve issues/risks. As a Lead Business Analyst, you’ll strive for continuous development in your work and the work of your team, identifying areas for improvement throughout the lifecycle of an initiative.

About you

We ask that you have:

  • Project delivery expertise with a good understanding of technology, enabling them to manage complex technical initiatives while acting as a bridge between business and engineering teams.

  • Extensive experience in project planning and governance, stakeholder management, risk and dependency management, budget and resource planning, delivery of change through Agile or Waterfall methodologies, and the ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.

  • Skilled at coordinating cross-functional teams, removing delivery blockers, managing release plans, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring solutions meet security, resilience, quality, and operational requirements.

  • High levels of communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential to successfully deliver technology-enabled change.

  • Strategically focused, with experience of developing Roadmaps, identifying Business Value and supporting the SI funding processes

  • An understanding of Nationwide’s compliance, governance and change deliverables

  • The ability to confidently communicate; with the ability to present information to senior stakeholders and design forums and influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Experience working in a financial services Economic Crime / Fraud business area
