This role is within the Product Lifecycle Management Framework team, part of our Group Retail Products function. The team is responsible for setting minimum control requirements to appropriately manage risk for product design, sales, and servicing teams across Nationwide, as well as managing the group’s product governance framework.

This is a 12-month secondment opportunity. At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. For this job, you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Northampton or Swindon office.

ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will help shape and strengthen the organisation’s product governance framework, with a focus on continuous improvement and high standards of regulatory compliance, including Consumer Duty. You will take a proactive role in ensuring there is effective oversight across the full product lifecycle, from design through to ongoing operation.
You will work as a trusted advisor to the business, supporting the development of clear, enterprise-wide policy expectations and offering guidance on complex governance matters. Part of this role involves maintaining oversight of wider framework activity, identifying emerging risks and issues and escalating these appropriately to senior management.
You will also support the design and ongoing embedding of an effective end-to-end risk and control environment for product lifecycle risks. Through clear and insightful reporting, you will enable Accountable Executives to manage risk effectively and demonstrate their regulatory accountabilities with confidence.
Alongside this, you will work closely with senior leaders across a range of risk and governance activities, including issue management, regulatory evidence, and support for key governance and management forums. This provides regular exposure to senior decision-makers and the opportunity to influence outcomes at an enterprise level.
About youFor this role, you will have:
- Demonstrable experience in financial services, with a good understanding of retail products and how they are designed, distributed and serviced, gained through operational, product, distribution and/or servicing roles.
- Governance, risk and control experience, with a good understanding of policy management, governance frameworks, and/or end-to-end risk and control design, particularly across operational and conduct risk.
- Highly effective communication skills and the ability to clearly explain complex risk and governance topics both verbally and in writing, tailored for senior stakeholders across multiple business areas and also risk functions.
- Proven stakeholder management skills, with experience influencing and working collaboratively with senior stakeholders, demonstrating attention to detail, credibility, and commercial awareness in delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Excellent analytical and reporting capability, with a proven ability to identify themes, apply sound judgement, and produce succinct, insightful reporting that enables senior leaders to understand and manage risks effectively.
