Join our Retail Risk Profiling (RRP) Team as a Financial Crime Team Manager and play a pivotal role in protecting our customers and society from economic crime. Operating at the frontline, you’ll lead a team dedicated to identifying and mitigating risk, investigating money laundering, submitting Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), and delivering robust enhanced due diligence. Responsibilities:
- As a Team Manager within Retail Risk Profiling, you will lead and develop a team of Economic Crime Investigators and Senior Economic Crime Investigators, driving high-quality financial crime investigations across Nationwide’s customer base.
- You’ll provide day-to-day leadership through coaching, mentoring, and continuous development, creating an environment where individuals feel supported, motivated, and empowered to perform at their best while contributing to a shared purpose.
- You’ll be responsible for delivering strong operational performance, using clear goal setting, meaningful feedback, and recognition to inspire results.
- With oversight of resource planning, Management Information (MI), attendance, quality, and SLA adherence, you’ll ensure your team consistently meets expectations.
- Confident in making independent, risk-based decisions, you’ll also provide accurate governance reporting, manage regulatory risk effectively, and continuously enhance processes to improve efficiency and strengthen economic crime controls in a fast-paced environment.

About you:
- You will be an experienced people leader with the confidence, resilience, and drive to lead an expert operational team, bringing a strong blend of leadership capability and financial crime expertise.
- You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, setting clear direction, driving performance, and supporting your team to deliver high-quality outcomes while maintaining robust risk awareness.
- You will need proven team management experience, with a strong track record in performance management, coaching, and developing individuals to achieve and exceed expectations in a demanding environment.
- Experience within a Financial Crime setting, with a solid understanding of how financial crime operations function, alongside up-to-date knowledge of legislation, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice.
- Strong operational management capability, including oversight of SLAs, MI, quality, attendance, and overall delivery, with the ability to interpret complex financial or legal information and translate it into clear, accurate, and timely management insights.
- Excellent root cause analysis skills, enabling you to identify underlying drivers of issues, apply structured thinking, and implement effective, sustainable solutions that enhance performance and mitigate risk.
