As a Senior Financial Crime Investigator - Project Support, you will play a pivotal role at a time of significant transformation across the bank, driven by regulatory change and the evolving economic crime landscape. This position ensures Financial Crime Operations are fully represented within key change initiatives, bringing clarity, structure and confidence to complex programmes while helping shape effective and sustainable outcomes.
You will support a range of projects by attending meetings and calls, capturing accurate minutes, tracking actions and milestones, and liaising closely with managers and stakeholders to ensure change is implemented smoothly. Success in this role requires a highly organised and proactive approach, strong communication skills and the confidence to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and present information clearly while responding thoughtfully to challenges.
Drawing on your financial crime subject matter expertise and understanding of systems, processes and products, you will help guide transition activity and ensure operational needs are fully considered. In addition to project support, you will contribute to broader senior investigator responsibilities, including performance management, coaching and the development of colleagues, sharing knowledge and experience to strengthen Financial Crime Operations now and for the future.
This is a 6-month secondment opportunity. At Nationwide, we offer hybrid working wherever possible. Responsibilities:
- Deliver first-line Financial Crime activities with precision and consistency, meeting defined quality and performance objectives while supporting a seamless customer experience.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with regulatory and policy requirements, taking ownership of outcomes and maintaining high professional standards across day-to-day operations.
- Act as a subject matter expert, shaping and maintaining Financial Crime processes and procedures, ensuring they remain accurate, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Perform annual reviews, assist Financial Crime Managers with documented changes to systems, controls and policies, and support the development and delivery of training to colleagues across Financial Crime Operations.
- Contribute critical insight to Financial Crime projects, gathering requirements, assessing impacts and capturing data to support informed decision-making.
- Provide clear reporting and regular updates to senior management and the wider team, helping keep stakeholders aligned, supporting successful implementation of new processes, and ensuring ongoing regulatory and policy compliance.
About you:
- Experience working within a financial crime environment, with strong knowledge of relevant processes, procedures and regulatory expectations.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels and represent the Financial Crime function effectively.
- Demonstrable experience supporting projects or change initiatives within a regulated or financial services environment.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex information, identify risks and impacts, and translate regulatory or business change into clear, workable operational actions.
- Experience producing clear, concise documentation and reporting suitable for governance forums, audits and senior management review.
- A collaborative, adaptable and resilient approach, with the ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities.
