As a Consultant Developer in our Reporting Change Team, you’ll be at the forefront of major tax and regulatory initiatives, designing smarter, future‑ready processes that will support the Society for years to come. You’ll lead the migration of key reporting processes into our new Data Lakehouse environment, applying your expertise in SAS, SQL and Databricks to build modern, resilient solutions. In this role, you will lead a team of developers delivering projects that are critical to the Society’s regulatory compliance. You will be accountable for developing, enhancing, and migrating reporting processes within the Society’s Data Lakehouse, helping to modernise and strengthen Finance’s reporting and data capabilities. This position offers a valuable opportunity to play a key role in shaping and managing Finance’s data estate, combining hands-on technical delivery with team leadership. Success in this role requires an inquisitive mindset, a strong desire to learn, and the ability to thrive in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
This role places you at the heart of Nationwide’s Finance department, working closely with other areas of Finance. It is ideal for someone who thrives on challenges, possesses natural curiosity, and has a proven track record of delivering high-quality technical reporting.
As a minimum requirement, you’ll need to have:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and confidently present to senior management
- Knowledge of multiple programming languages and tools (e.g. SAS, SQL, Databricks, dbt, Python)
- Great analytical ability and a proven track record of delivering to a high standard and on time, using Agile methodology
- Attention to detail and an ability to review highly technical reporting to identify anomalies and discrepancies
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, the ability to deliver end-to-end solutions, analyse complex data, and understand its meaning
- Experience of regulatory reporting (e.g. Basel 3.1, IFRS9)
