You’ll join our Credit Risk engineering team, supporting a strategic platform that underpins how we make responsible lending decisions across a wide range of products. The team plays a critical role in enabling safe, scalable and near real-time decisioning, helping us meet customer needs while maintaining a robust risk environment.
In this role, you’ll contribute to the development and support of applications and workflows built on the Microsoft Power Platform, working alongside experienced engineers and architects. You’ll gain hands-on experience delivering solutions that improve processes, integrate systems and enhance decision-making capabilities.
You’ll collaborate closely with product teams, business stakeholders and other engineers to build reliable, secure and user-focused applications, while developing your technical skills in a supportive environment.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
At Nationwide, we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK-wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job, you'll be assigned to our nearest regional hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events in one of our office sites. This is anticipated to be monthly in Swindon or London. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works
Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
On a typical day, you will work with your team to build and improve critical business applications that help support credit risk decisions. You might spend time creating or updating screens, improving automated processes, or helping fix issues in existing tools. You’ll talk with colleagues across the business to understand what they need and turn those ideas into working solutions with guidance from more experienced engineers. You’ll also test your work to make sure it runs smoothly and learn new skills as you go.
About you
- Some hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse), either professionally or through projects
- A basic understanding of application development concepts (e.g. APIs, data models, integrations)
- Awareness of cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Git
- An interest in automation, process improvement and low-code development
- A problem-solving skill set and willingness to learn from others
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:
Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes
You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
