We’re looking for a hands-on Functional Technical Lead to join our Credit Risk engineering team, delivering and evolving a business-critical platform that supports decisioning across mortgages, credit cards, current accounts, loans and the expansion into business banking. This is a key role at the heart of our technology estate, combining deep technical expertise with leadership to shape scalable, cloud-native solutions that directly impact customer outcomes.
You’ll join our Credit Risk engineering team, working on a strategic platform that underpins how we make responsible lending decisions across a wide range of products. The team plays a critical role in enabling safe, scalable and real-time decisioning, helping us meet customer needs while maintaining a robust risk environment.
In this role, you’ll combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, contributing to platform design, guiding engineers, and ensuring high-quality delivery across a modern cloud-based architecture. You’ll work closely with architects, product teams and stakeholders across the business to deliver solutions that are resilient, extensible and aligned to our long-term strategy.
We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
At Nationwide, we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK-wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job, you'll be assigned to our nearest regional hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events in one of our office sites. This is anticipated to be monthly in Swindon or London. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.
