For our websites to perform, the content needs to work hard to attract customers using modern search optimisation strategies, and ensure customers are able to understand and make decisions on what can be complex financial propositions. You’ll play a key role in defining, creating and optimising content for our core products. Your role is critical to ensuring the purpose of each page in a customer journey is clear, that our content hierarchy aids comprehension, and that we’re applying the most effective content strategies at the right moments (e.g. imagery, copy or video etc).

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team working alongside Product Designers, Insight Analysts, Editors and Product Owners. It is the team’s mission to collaborate to ensure customer interactions are positive and we help customers achieve their financial goals. We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best. This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. At Nationwide, we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK-wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

Responsibilities

As a Content Designer in the Websites team, you’ll shape the content that supports millions of customer interactions across Nationwide’s digital estate, including Nationwide.co.uk, Nationwide for Intermediaries, The Mortgage Works, and our product journeys within online banking and the app. You’ll design and deliver content that helps customers understand complex financial products, feel confident in their decisions, and experience a genuinely simple and human digital journey. You’ll define, create and continually optimise content for our core product journeys, making sure each page has a clear purpose and that content structure and hierarchy support understanding.

Taking a search led approach, you’ll apply modern Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) techniques to help customers find the information they need, while ensuring content is written in plain language, inclusive by design and compliant with accessibility and regulatory standards. Working in multidisciplinary agile teams, you’ll research, design and test content as part of end‑to‑end journey development. You’ll use insight from analytics, content metrics and qualitative research to identify customer pain points and opportunities for improvement, translating these into practical content solutions that improve performance and customer outcomes. You’ll contribute ideas for experimentation, including A/B testing and personalisation, to help us learn and evolve our experiences.

Collaboration sits at the heart of the role. You’ll work closely with Product Designers, UX Researchers, Insight Analysts, Editors and Product Owners to bring content and design together in a joined up way.
