Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
Working alongside others in the team, including a Senior Manager and a Head of Compliance Advice, you will oversee, manage and be the subject matter expert on the Regulatory Compliance Risk policy and its associated risks and controls. This includes ensuring alignment with the Group Risk Framework, assisting Functions with embedding of appetite, and coordination with other policy owning areas.
Working with colleagues across Compliance Advice, you will help ensure the effective identification, tracking and implementation of regulatory change, as well as helping to manage, develop and embed this end-to-end process. You will lead the development and administration of risk tools (inc. MetricStream and AI tools), to help enable compliance with regulation across the Society.
You will provide generalist regulatory expertise and advice to guide, support, validate and challenge business areas in conduct and compliance matters, with the opportunity to develop knowledge of specialist areas of regulation (such as regulation relevant to Treasury, regulatory permissions and fees).
You will support the effort to ‘join dots’ and deliver Compliance insights through relevant management information and reporting to and coordinating a range of stakeholders.
About you
We need someone who is self-motivated and organised, can quickly build strong relationships, and has the ability to work across a variety of areas, joining the dots between interrelated topics, risks, and workstreams across the Society. We’re looking for someone with a solid grounding in UK financial services regulation and risk management.
As a minimum you’ll have:
Knowledge of conduct regulation, FCA and PRA handbooks, and conduct & compliance policy frameworks, or a willingness to learn them.
A proven understanding of risk management methodologies, including previous experience of policy/framework engagement.
A proven ability to work with complex tooling, e.g. risk management, workflow, and AI programmes.
Ability to take on wide and varied tasks, requiring the quick absorption of different concepts and risk disciplines.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, both written and verbal. You’ll need to be confident meeting and presenting to multiple levels up to and including Director level.
Experienced in stakeholder management with staff from differing teams. You’ll need the agility to coordinate people from disparate or diverse areas on a single topic or project.
A naturally curious, flexible and inquisitive approach to work, willing to proactively question the status quo.
Excellent organisation and planning/time management skills and an ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments and diverse areas of engagement.
Personal drive and initiative, giving you the ability to seek out solutions and develop new knowledge quickly.
