Automation Test Engineer - E2 in Swindon

Swindon Full-Time No working from home possible
Nationwide Building Society
Description

You’ll join our Credit Risk engineering team, supporting a strategic platform that underpins how we make responsible lending decisions across a wide range of products. The team plays a key role in enabling safe, scalable and near real-time decisioning, helping us meet customer needs while maintaining a robust risk environment.

In this role, you’ll focus on ensuring the quality, reliability and robustness of applications built on the Microsoft Power Platform and integrated systems. You’ll work closely with engineers, product teams and stakeholders to embed effective testing practices and help deliver high-quality solutions that support critical business processes.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong test engineer looking to build skills in test automation, low-code platforms and modern engineering practices within a supportive, collaborative team.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job, you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
If you’re a colleague on long-term absence (for example, on parental leave) or a temporary worker, please use your personal email address to submit an application.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

As an E2 Test Engineer, you will play an active role in delivering quality outcomes across the platform, with a focus on both manual and automated testing. On a typical day you will work on some of the following tasks depending on the test cycle of the project. You will design and execute test cases and test scripts for Power Platform applications (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse). Contribute to building and maintaining automated test suites where appropriate. Support testing of system integrations, APIs and data flows across the Credit Risk platform. Collaborate with engineers and product owners to define acceptance criteria and ensure testability of solutions. Identify, log and track defects, supporting root cause analysis and resolution. Participate in functional, regression, integration and user acceptance testing activities. Help ensure solutions meet quality, performance, security and compliance standards. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by supporting automated testing and deployment validation and promote a culture of quality engineering and continuous improvement within the team.

About you

  • Experience in a software testing or QA role, including creating and executing test cases

  • Understanding of testing principles (functional, regression, integration, UAT)
  • Exposure to Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) or similar low-code platforms
  • Good understanding of APIs and system integrations
  • Experience in test automation tools (e.g. Playwright, Selenium, Robot or Power Platform testing tools)
  • Awareness of CI/CD pipelines and how testing integrates into delivery workflows
  • Familiarity with Azure or cloud-based platforms

Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:

  • Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind

  • Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand

  • Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development

  • Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes

You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.
