Data Centre Network Automation Specialist

Salary: Circa £75,000

Location: Swindon or London

We\’re seeking a seasoned Data Centre Network Specialist (EN03) to lead our data centre network infrastructure, with an understanding of BGP EVPN/VXLAN technologies. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert, adept at automation, governance & frameworks and capable of communicating technical concepts across a range of stakeholders.

Core Network Infrastructure (CNI), a value stream within IT Infrastructure and Service Delivery, is tasked with developing, maintaining, and securing the network infrastructure of the organisation. CNI are at the start of an exciting journey, our vision to drive long term value for Nationwide Building Society by providing simple cost-effective infrastructure, consumable in well-defined services with minimal fuss; ultimately to be so good you don’t even notice us!

What you’ll be doing

You will drive the implementation of the Core Network Infrastructure Strategy, leading projects that enhance network capabilities and resilience. You will play a pivotal role in developing and upholding robust network governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices.

A key aspect of your role will be to streamline network governance through automation, promoting efficiency and reducing risk. You will be comfortable leading and inspiring a team of network engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting continuous learning and development.

Within your SME area you will own and improve products and procedures, help to plan for short to mid-term roadmaps and investment, ensuring that we remain within risk and service level tolerance and are delivering capabilities fit for the future of the org.

You will work together with your peers, making sure that roadmaps and delivery priorities across CNI align and are delivering value against the overall strategic objectives whilst keeping us safe.

You’ll have broad technical knowledge across Data Centre technologies with responsibilities focussed on:

  • Network Design & Implementation

  • Network Governance: Develop, implement, and uphold robust network governance frameworks and standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure network solutions align with business needs.
