The SAP Platform team acts as a central team servicing all CIOs within MTD (Member Tech Delivery) providing product architecture roadmap, reliability, best practice adoption and resilience. As a SAP S/4 HANA Engineer, you will be at the heart of our strategic programmes and will be responsible for having control on the dates, technical delivery, engineering best practices and alignment across all the projects that are delivered within the platform. This role is within the MTD function, part of the wider COO organisation, which is responsible for delivering IT solutions which have our customers and colleagues at heart. Reporting into our SAP BASIS & Security lead, you will actively support the delivery of our strategic programmes, particularly in the SAP technology set. This is a pivotal role within the MTD Engineering team, who rely on this role for driving the end-to-end delivery agenda. What you’ll be doing Lead and manage the SAP Basis and HANA infrastructure, including system administration, performance tuning, and security. Participate in strategic planning and decision-making related to SAP systems. Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems, including SAP HANA databases. Monitor system performance, identify and resolve issues proactively. Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to SAP systems. Lead and manage projects related to SAP Basis and HANA, such as system upgrades, implementations, and migrations. Implement automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort. Provide guidance and direction to a team of engineers to create fit-for-purpose artefacts that meet requirements of the organisation and fit the technology strategy. Provide technical expertise at parts and/or all stages of the delivery lifecycle, including providing technical leadership and consultancy to stakeholders. Task / Line Management of circa 10 FTE to include capability development, coaching, nurturing, performance management and pastoral support within P&C guidelines and recommendations. Organise the work of the team relying on technical knowledge to create efficiencies and give appropriate direction. About you We need somebody with: Proven experience with SAP Basis, SAP security concepts, and SAP S/4 HANA Administration. Hands-on experience with SAP HANA, including installation, configuration, and administration. Working knowledge of SAP Cloud ALM configuration, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and SAP Integration Suite. Experience in managing SAP landscapes, including upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning. Hands-on experience in TDD (Technical Design Documentation) and LLD (Low Level Design Documentation) preparation. Proficiency in database management, operating systems (Linux, Unix), and network administration. Experience with Configuration Management and automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Python scripting to automate system deployments. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of SAP Solution Manager, Change and Release Management (ChaRM), and other SAP tools. Experience in SAP middleware integration area, including SAP Integration Suite and SAP IAG integration with other SAP Tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Experience of various delivery methodologies and ITIL frameworks. SAP Certifications such as SAP Certified Technology specialist or similar are desirable. Working knowledge with Cloud platforms such as SAP Cloud, Azure are desirable. Experience of working in a complex business environment, where there is a requirement to understand the impact of one\’s area on others and interdependencies both on people and technological perspective.
