The Business Development Manager role focuses on generating residential and buy to let mortgage business by building strong relationships with mortgage intermediaries across your allocated area. Representing both Nationwide and The Mortgage Works, you’ll work closely with a Regional Sales Manager and occasionally travel for overnight stays. A full driving licence is essential, and ideally, you’ll live within or close to the territory.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual with experience in business development or a solid understanding of the intermediary mortgage market. We also welcome applicants currently working in mortgage advice or processing roles who are ready to take the next step.

You’ll receive full training, ongoing support and attend quarterly regional meetings, which may also involve overnight stays. We’re looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. The role covers the Preston and Bolton areas, and you will need to be based in, or within ten miles of, either location.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you’ll be located at our nearest regional hub. There will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events in one of our office sites. This is anticipated to be on a quarterly basis in various UK locations. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

In this role, you’ll build and nurture strong relationships with intermediaries across your designated territory to deliver mortgage business growth. You’ll meet with intermediaries both in person and via Teams to showcase Nationwide’s intermediary proposition, while also helping them make the most of our online mortgage processing system. You’ll represent Nationwide and The Mortgage Works at conferences and exhibitions, promoting our products and services with confidence and credibility.

You’ll guide intermediaries on the suitability of potential cases, keep an accurate and up to date database of contacts, and ensure all interactions are recorded for effective activity management. As the key point of contact for your area, you’ll act as the face of Nationwide and The Mortgage Works, helping intermediaries navigate case issues and working closely with the New Business Service Centre to resolve queries quickly. Through these relationships, you’ll play an important role in improving the quality of mortgage packaging and strengthening partnerships across your region.

As a minimum requirement you will need:

  • Strong understanding and experience of the mortgage process, including MCoB and ICoB rules and other relevant regulation
