Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

You will play a key role within the Risk, Governance and Controls team, supporting the People Function by providing expert guidance on people-related risks, particularly in the onboarding of new suppliers to Nationwide. This includes partnering with Procurement to support negotiations with both new and existing suppliers, ensuring their screening processes meet Nationwide’s standards. You’ll engage directly with suppliers through meetings and discussions, helping them understand current expectations and future requirements, while also working closely with internal stakeholders to resolve any issues linked to supplier employment screening.

In this role, you’ll ensure strong governance by maintaining thorough records of decisions and tracking follow-up actions. You’ll collaborate with other risk teams to identify where exceptions, waivers, or dispensations may be necessary against policy requirements. Additionally, you will produce management information to highlight trends, risks, and insights related to screening processes, helping inform decision-making and mitigate risk exposure.

You’ll also contribute to the wider team by supporting key projects and initiatives as priorities evolve. A core part of your responsibilities will include strengthening quality assurance frameworks for recruitment suppliers - helping to design and carry out control testing to ensure processes remain compliant, effective, and aligned with organisational standards.
