We are looking to fill an Assistant Dealer secondment role in the Unsecured Funding team. The role will focus on the short-term funding side of desk activity but work closely with the wider team.
We’re looking for a driven and high performing candidate who wants to take the next step of their career journey in the Funding team.The short-term desk is one of the most active in front office in terms of trading activity, therefore an attention to detail is essential.The individual will be capable of supporting the daily execution of short-term funding primarily ensuring externally and internally reported liquidity metrics are not breached. In addition, looking to seek out discretionary opportunities if they arise. The role will also involve reporting and analysis, while providing an opportunity to learn more about short term markets.
You will have to interact with external counterparties including brokers and investment bank dealers along with some investors directly. Internally you’ll have to provide market updates to various stakeholders and input to ongoing liquidity discussions. Naturally, we'll expect you to be a great fit into the culture of the Treasury team, be an advocate of everything the Society stands for and always be seeking to do the right thing.
This is a 14-month secondment opportunity.

Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing
As an Assistant Dealer, you’ll be part of a team that operates in the market every day, helping to manage short-term funding through deposits and a portfolio of Commercial Paper and Certificates of Deposit. Market conditions can shift quickly, so you’ll stay close to economic developments, assess the impact of market announcements and regulatory changes, and support informed decision making across the desk.
You’ll help execute trades using platforms such as Bloomberg and ensure all activity is accurately recorded in Murex. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to maintaining funding programmes, delivering clear reporting to internal stakeholders, and finding ways to improve how the team works, including the use of new technology and AI.
Working closely with colleagues in the Unsecured Funding team, you’ll support the delivery of funding strategy and explore options to meet future short-term requirements. The role also involves building your understanding of financial markets and keeping others informed of key developments, while maintaining high standards and meeting deadlines.

About you
As a minimum requirement, you’ll have/be:
- A demonstrable interest in financial markets, particularly funding, and bank balance sheets
- Experience in assimilating and interpreting large volumes of data and information and consolidating outputs
- Able to work and make decisions in a tightly controlled environment often with incomplete information
- An effective communicator, with some knowledge or experience of Treasury and funding markets
- Excellent Excel skills with an academic background in a numerical or analytical discipline
