We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior Quality Control professional with deep expertise in Business Banking Financial Crime operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and delivering comprehensive quality assurance across all Financial Crime processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and best practice standards.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours.

Responsibilities
You will collaborate extensively across our wider Retail function to provide insightful conduct, operational, and regulatory risk expertise and insight that enables Nationwide to take opportunities and manage risks in pursuit of its ambitious objectives. You’ll also maintain the risk and control profile, and support reporting into project forums and committees as needed. You will need to stay abreast of regulatory and legislative change which may impact the risk environment, and work with risk owners to ensure appropriate steps are in place to mitigate future risk.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will bring the following essential, measurable skills and experience:
- Proven experience in Financial Crime/AML operations within a 1st line environment, including hands-on involvement in case reviews, escalations, and due diligence assessments.
- Demonstrable experience using financial crime systems (e.g. AML monitoring, sanctions screening, PEPs, customer risk assessment, or transaction monitoring tools).
- Strong working knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks (e.g. FCA, JMLSG guidance, sanctions regimes), with evidence of applying these in day-to-day decision-making.
- Experience providing SME guidance and quality oversight, including supporting quality checking frameworks, coaching colleagues, and improving compliance outcomes.
- Ability to analyse complex data and make risk-based recommendations, evidenced by accurate escalation handling and clear, well-rationalised decision outputs.
- Experience supporting risk and control frameworks, such as RCSA, control testing, MI/reporting, and identifying/escalating control failures.
- Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders and collaborating across 1st and 2nd line teams.
