The Senior Engagement Manager will be accountable for the design and delivery of an integrated engagement approach across communications, events and colleague capability development. The role ensures that colleagues, customers and stakeholders are informed, engaged and prepared to deliver the strategy of Business Banking, particularly through periods of transformation and strategic change. This is a new role within Business Banking and the Senior Engagement Manager will play a critical role in shaping and delivering the Business Banking engagement strategy across communications, events and colleague capability development.
Reporting to the Director of Business Management, the role is designed to ensure engagement activity is purposeful, coordinated and aligned to business priorities, enabling effective execution, readiness and long‑term capability uplift through a period of significant growth. As we continue to evolve, the scale and complexity of the engagement we need to deliver is growing. We’re looking for an inspiring engagement leader to drive impact in a fast-paced environment. You’ll play a critical role in delivering practical high-quality communications, events and learning experiences that help our Business Banking colleagues perform at their best and keep our customers engaged.
Across internal business banking communications, internal and external customer-facing business banking events and colleague learning, you’ll be accountable for the whole cycle, from needs analysis through to design, delivery and evaluation, using data, technology and AI to enhance learner experience, efficiency and capability. For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our London or Northampton office. If you are aligned to our Glasgow or Edinburgh hub (as this is your nearest location), there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. Responsibilities:
- The Senior Engagement Manager is accountable for shaping and leading a strategic, enterprise‑wide engagement capability spanning communications, events and colleague capability development.
- Operating with significant autonomy and influence, translating the Business Banking strategy into cohesive engagement, readiness and capability outcomes.
- Provide strategic direction on internal and external communications, ensuring clarity, consistency and appropriate tone across all channels.
- Establish disciplined communication planning, timing and evaluation across the end-to-end of Business Banking.
- Partner closely with Group Communications, Policy, HR and Business Leadership to ensure communications meet regulatory, brand and colleague standards.
- Design and deliver high‑impact engagement events for colleagues and customers, including leadership forums, strategy briefings, milestone moments and learning‑led events.
- Build strong relationships with ExCo, senior leaders and functional heads, acting as the single point of accountability for engagement effectiveness.
- Oversee the design of learning journeys that support strategic roll‑outs, operating model change and system or process transformation.
About you:
- Leadership experience and skilled in people development and performance management.
- An experienced all-round marketing, communication or learning and development professional.
- Sound business and commercial acumen, including experience in developing strong business cases.
- Experience defining and shaping distinct tone of voice.
- An exceptional understanding of marketing, communication or learning and development activities, tools and techniques.
- Confident at engaging the most senior stakeholders, supported by strong negotiation and influencing capabilities.
- Highly experienced at understanding, analysing and interpreting complex data and insight to inform strategy and decision making.
- An ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, adapting your style to suit the audience.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills and ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
