You'll be joining our Engineering team as a Technical Lead for Enterprise Analytics Platforms, with responsibility for the technical direction, engineering and operational ownership of our SAS estate and wider analytics platform landscape. Our platforms support critical regulatory, risk, finance and analytical workloads across the society. As we evolve from traditional SAS Grid environments towards a modern analytics ecosystem integrating cloud services, data platforms and emerging technologies, we're looking for a lead who can combine deep technical expertise with strong platform ownership. This is a senior hands-on role working across infrastructure, analytics platforms, integrations, automation and operational engineering. You'll be responsible for maintaining the reliability, resilience and performance of critical production services while driving platform modernisation and continuous improvement initiatives.

You'll work closely with business stakeholders, architects, vendors and engineering teams to influence platform strategy, deliver secure, scalable and future-ready capabilities that support some of the society’s most important business functions. For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at our Glasgow office. If you’re based at our Glasgow office, this will apply from 1 April 2027 and ahead of that there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events.

Responsibilities:

  • You'll spend your time designing, improving and supporting enterprise analytics platforms that underpin critical business processes across the society.
  • You'll work hands-on across platform design, automation, integrations while also contributing to strategic initiatives such as platform modernisation, migrations and adoption of new technologies.
  • You'll collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, vendors and engineering teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions and ensure our analytics platforms remain resilient, secure and operationally effective.
  • You'll take ownership of complex technical issues from investigation through to resolution while continuously identifying opportunities to improve reliability, performance and user experience.
  • You will build and manage a team of platform engineers and support specialists, developing their technical skills and domain knowledge in SAS and analytics environments.

About you:

  • Experience managing, engineering and operating enterprise analytics platforms such as SAS, SAS Grid or similar large-scale analytics environments.
  • Deep technical expertise across Linux platforms, distributed computing environments, batch processing and scheduling technologies, and data integration tooling.
  • Experience driving platform reliability and operational excellence, including incident management, root cause analysis, and continual service improvement.
  • People leadership experience managing technical teams through delivery.
  • Experience delivering platform modernisation, migration or transformation initiatives within complex enterprise environments.
  • Understanding of platform architecture, infrastructure, automation and integration patterns, with the ability to work across technical boundaries when required.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with both technical and non-technical audiences including vendor management.
