Join our Banking & Savings Operations team and take on a role that truly shapes how we work. You’ll be at the centre of strengthening our governance and reporting, helping us make smarter, safer decisions for our customers. We’re looking for someone self‑motivated and enthusiastic—someone who naturally thinks in terms of risk, always views things through a customer lens, and keeps the customer at the heart of every decision.
In this role, you’ll work across our range of Savings to Current Accounts, giving you a unique opportunity to influence how we support millions of customers every day. You’ll work closely with different stakeholders, build strong networks across the business, and see the real impact of your work on customers every day. Along the way, you’ll gain exposure to a multitude of areas and different teams, giving you insight into the workings of the wider Society.
If you’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves variety, and wants to make a meaningful impact across a major operation, this is where you’ll shine. We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best. The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours. At Nationwide, we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK-wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Bournemouth, Northampton, Dunfermline, Sheffield or Wakefield office. If you are aligned to our Glasgow hub (as this is your nearest location), there will be a need to regularly connect with colleagues for collaboration events. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
Virgin Money is now part of Nationwide. Nationwide acquired Virgin Money in October 2024. Virgin Money continues to serve customers on the high street, and there will be a phased and considered integration over the coming years. You’ll be employed by Nationwide from day one, delivering real impact and benefitting from a highly competitive range of benefits. We’re a workplace where you’re rewarded, recognised and celebrated. Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.
As a Governance Reporting Specialist, you’ll step into a role where no two days are alike. You’ll take ownership of our attestation and reporting calendar, ensuring it runs smoothly and stays up to date. You’ll maintain an accurate, evolving risk profile that reflects the challenges and priorities across the function.
Alongside supporting the wider team with control testing and reporting, you’ll play a key role in preparing high‑quality reporting materials for the Head of Banking & Savings Operations. Collaboration will be central to your work: you’ll partner with stakeholders across Banking & Savings Operations to confirm that controls are effective, issues are well‑managed, and governance standards are consistently met.
You’ll lead the cadence and production of governance packs for the team, working closely with the Leadership team to shape and refine their content. You’ll also support with change activities and work with colleagues driving continuous improvement initiatives—helping ensure every change is delivered safely, compliantly, and with the customer in mind.
For this role, you will have:

- Knowledge and understanding of risk, controls and reporting, including the various areas
- Flexibility to respond to shifting priorities, step into varied tasks, and provide support when issues arise
