Role Overview Exciting opportunities exist within our Strategic Finance team.
The Business Development Director will play an important role in maintaining a strong market presence, originating and executing new commercial and mid‑corporate opportunities.
You will work with Relationship Directors to generate additional income and strong returns for the organisation whilst delivering an excellent customer experience.
This role supports commercial, corporate, PLC and private‑equity backed businesses across the UK, with a focus on the Midlands region (Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham).
You will be based locally and will regularly travel to meet customers and attend collaboration events in office sites.
Hybrid Working Hybrid working is available, with a balance of office and home work.
The role requires monthly office attendance, with location varying.

Responsibilities Generate new opportunities targeted at large commercial and mid‑sized corporate businesses within the Midlands.
Act according to the strategy and growth plan to optimise income and build a targeted portfolio through effective origination and execution of high‑quality lending opportunities.
Establish and maintain external professional relationships that produce quality referrals from your own professional network.
Apply business acumen, excellent presentation and negotiation skills to identify and win opportunities to lend on a bilateral or club basis and generate ancillary income.
Analyse and interpret accounts, calculate key ratios, cash‑flow forecasts, credit modelling and assess management teams according to best practice in Strategic Finance.
Structure lending proposals for credit decisioning and manage risk and compliance to minimise exposure to bad and doubtful debt.
Qualifications Experience working within a Business Banking team with a proven track record in originating and securing commercial lending opportunities.
Experience managing all aspects of a deal process from inception to completion, including preparation of detailed credit papers, leading negotiations with management teams, advisors and funding partners, reviewing due‑diligence reports, overseeing complex legal processes and managing deal closure.
Business degree or equivalent experience in a financial services environment.
Detailed and up‑to‑date knowledge of UK financial markets with a focus on the Commercial Banking segment.
