Job description
The Housing Surveyor is an interim opportunity within the Housing Directorate to deliver planned improvements and/or major repairs within our housing stock of some 5,200+ homes across Central Bedfordshire.
Working within the Planned Works Team and/or our Repairs Service our Housing Surveyor\’s support the capital investment programme and major repairs ensuring our homes are safe and to meet our obligations to achieve the Decent Homes Standard. You will be someone who puts the customer at the heart of everything they do & embeds equality and diversity in all aspects of the Housing Services delivery.
Day to day the role delivers contract management and quality assurance for our improvement programme, major repairs, carrying out site inspections and scoping of works. The programme includes workstreams for kitchen and bathroom replacement, Roofing, Windows, Doors and internal/ external improvements across our housing portfolio. Major repairs and complex works delivery for our repairs service.
Our Housing Surveyor\’s are customer focused and the delivery of surveys, inspections and improvements within our residential homes requires excellent communication skills.
Reporting to the Housing Property Team Leaders the role requires technical experience to ensure quality standards and experience in commercial awareness to ensure VFM is achieved within contract management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or HND in Building Surveying or Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Or Qualified by extensive relevant experience in Housing / Property and planned works contract delivery.
- Knowledge of Social Housing Standards, Decent Homes Standard, HHRSR and Landlord responsibilities.
- Experience and/or knowledge of CDM regulations / Health & Safety.
