About us and the role
Science Museum Group aims to inspire futures by growing visitors' science capital and engagement with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. The National Railway Museum in York, part of the Group, continues this mission with its iconic locomotives and engineering collection. With the reopening of Station Hall in September, we are opening a new retail outlet and seeking retail sales advisors to energize our shops.
Shift Patterns
- Fixed Term contract until March 2028 - 14 hours/week - Saturday & Sunday (09:45-17:15)
- Fixed Term contract until March 2028 - 14 hours/week - Monday & Tuesday (09:45-17:15)
- Fixed Term contract until March 2028 - 21 hours - Wednesday, Thursday & Friday (09:45-17:15)
- Permanent contract - 12 hours/week - Wednesday & Thursday (varied hours)

- Increase sales and profit by assisting customers, managing specific store areas, and maintaining visual merchandising and housekeeping standards.
About You
We seek candidates committed to outstanding customer service, goal-oriented, knowledgeable about products, and able to build positive relationships. Motivation, flexibility, and inclusivity are valued. Experience in retail, visual merchandising, till work, or visitor attractions is beneficial but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills, even if they do not meet all criteria.
