The Independent Monitoring Service is seeking a Self‑Employed Independent Visitor to conduct regular visits to children’s and adult care homes in Scotland, ensuring compliance with national quality standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly visits to homes as directed by the NYAS manager.
- Make Regulation 44 visits to residential children’s homes, short breaks and secure units.
- Conduct Regulation 25 visits to residential family centres.
- Carry out Care Quality Commission visits to residential adult homes.
- Perform Care Inspectorate Wales regulation 8 visits to residential children’s homes.
- Execute RSS20 visits to residential special schools.
- Visit residential children’s homes under Health and Social Care Standards Scotland.
- Conduct monitoring visits to unregulated provision.
- Undertake all additional tasks assigned by the NYAS manager during and after visits to fulfil the role fully.
- Deliver factual inspection reports within specified timescales.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrable knowledge of regulated services, inspection frameworks, current legislation and statutory guidance about children, young people and adults at risk.
- Experience working within a social or health care organisation, safeguarding and managing complex relationships with OFSTED inspectors, social workers, residential care workers, registered managers and healthcare professionals.
- Professional qualification in social work, residential care, health care, advocacy or youth work.
Employment Conditions
- Self‑employed, paid a sessional rate.
- Required to complete annual safeguarding and compliance training (Personal Safety, Data Protection, Information Security, Safeguarding and Equality & Diversity).
