Responsible for leading the Warehouse staff; managing the operational activities within the Warehouse. Core responsibilities include managing and improving the productivity and quality in assigned areas; ensuring compliance to relevant Standard Operating Procedures and Health and Safety rules; supporting the Operations Management Team in achieving operational targets.

Core role accountabilities:

  • Performance
    • Maintain an efficient operation to maximise productivity and reduce costs.
    • Suggest and implement improvements to ensure maximum efficiency.
    • Ensure that good practice is adopted and maintained to support the maintenance and improvement of quality standards, reducing the levels of product returns and customer complaints.
    • Generate ideas to allow greater throughput in the department.
    • Assist in the reduction of internal product damages.
    • Maximise staff utilisation.
  • Leadership
    • Demonstrate and foster a leadership culture within the Warehouse to ensure the adoption of a ‘can do’ attitude by all reports.
    • Lead and train staff in pursuit of operational targets and Company Values.
    • Encourage and motivate staff to reduce turnover and maximise potential.
    • Provide encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new/additional training.
    • Able/willing to challenge/confront operatives.
  • Inventory systems
    • Familiarise and develop own knowledge of the WMS to an acceptable standard.
    • Train and develop the team to become efficient with the WMS.
  • Administration
    • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and to specific deadlines as required.
    • Responsible for query resolution relating to order and stock issues.
    • Responsible for producing Departmental reports.
  • Communication
    • Liaise with other Departments and Supervisors in relation to operational issues to ensure efficient service and availability is provided at all times.
    • Communicate good housekeeping and operational standards throughout the warehouse team.
    • Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts through mediation or informal meetings.
    • Conduct team meetings to update members on best practices and continuing expectations.
  • Health & Safety
    • Ensure Health & Safety compliance at all times including wearing of PPE supplied.
    • Promote Health & Safety awareness throughout the warehouse environment.
    • Be aware of relevant risk assessments and Fire assessments.
  • Other Duties
    • Be aware of and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Report to operational management any matters adversely affecting the protection of the company’s stocks and premises.
    • Assist when required with other functions within the warehouse operation, including managing other operational departments, as and when requested to do so.
    • Perform any other reasonable duties as the role and business dictates.
    • Support Warehouse Supervisor and perform Supervisory duties when Supervisor is absent or out of office.

  • Ideally at least 3 years’ experience working in an operational logistics environment.
  • Self-motivated and results focused/driven.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work on their own and within a team.
  • Good PC skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Health & Safety.
  • Mature, credible individual who is capable of communicating at all levels within the organisation and commanding respect from their staff.
  • Employee Training Experience.
