Fairfield Equine is excited to welcome a skilled and motivated Equine Surgery Technician to our team in Newtown, Connecticut. We are a multi-doctor equine sports medicine practice offering advanced diagnostics and surgical care. This position is a key part of our surgical team and plays an important role in delivering exceptional patient care. Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday
  • Overtime as needed based on surgical caseload
  • On-call responsibilities required

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of veterinary experience, preferably in equine medicine
  • Surgical experience strongly preferred
  • LVT/CVT/RVT preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours)
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Working knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization processes, and veterinary medical terminology

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize the surgery suite for elective and emergency procedures
  • Serve as the primary circulating surgery technician
  • Assist with patient preparation, including clipping and surgical site preparation
  • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and prepare surgical packs
  • Maintain a clean, organized surgery suite between procedures
  • Restock surgical supplies and communicate equipment or inventory needs
  • Assist with post-operative care, bandage changes, and radiographs
  • Provide support in other areas of the practice when needed, including hospital, imaging, pharmacy, or ambulatory services
