About NVD: A family-owned business, established in 1980, NVD was set up to assist vehicle manufacturers in the timely and incident free distribution of their products. We’ve established ourselves as a one stop shop providing the three main pillars of outbound logistics, including transporting, storing and enhancing our customers’ vehicles, prior to delivery to their end location. Since 1980 NVD has been at the forefront of pioneering the digitisation of the FVL industry. As early adopters of emerging technology we have been able to introduce huge efficiencies saving time and money for our customers. Our unwavering commitment to progress and continual service improvement remains at the heart of our business today.
The Role: We are looking for a driven Business Development Manager to join the NVD UK sales team. You will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of accounts that own and operate their own LCV and passenger car fleets to run their business, with a primary focus on facilities management, property services, and other corporate sectors where NVD does not yet have an established presence.
Alongside winning new accounts, this role also has a partnership development remit, identifying logistics operators, port service providers, and supply chain businesses where NVD's capabilities can be embedded into their own service offering, opening new and diversified routes to revenue beyond direct account sales. As the business and team grow, you may also be asked to support other customer verticals or take on additional accounts outside your primary focus.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Hunting & Growth: Proactively identifying and winning new business across corporate fleet operators, facilities management businesses, and other sectors with significant LCV usage building a pipeline largely from cold.
- Partnership Development: Identifying and developing new strategic partnerships with logistics operators, port service providers, and supply chain businesses, exploring how NVD's services can complement or be embedded into their existing offering.
- Cross-Selling: Analysing customer fleet requirements to cross-sell vehicle preparation and logistics services from NVD Core alongside conversion solutions from NVD Convertor.
- Solution Selling: Working directly with fleet managers, procurement leads, and operations directors to design vehicle and logistics packages that fit each customer's specific supply chain.
- Market Development: Working with the UK Head of Sales to refine and expand the target customer and partner base as real market intelligence emerges.
- Teamwork: Partnering with our transport, compound, and Convertor teams to ensure that what is sold can be delivered to the standard our customers expect.
- Flexibility: Supporting colleagues across other customer verticals where needed, and picking up new accounts or sectors as the sales structure develops.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience: At least 3 years of B2B sales or business development experience, with a clear focus on winning new business rather than managing existing accounts. A background in roles where building a pipeline from scratch is the norm, across fleet, logistics, facilities management, or any sector with significant commercial vehicle usage is highly relevant.
- Track Record: A demonstrable history of identifying and converting genuinely new customers or partners through self-generated outreach, without relying on a warm lead list.
- Industry Understanding: A broad understanding of the UK automotive and fleet industry enough to hold a credible conversation about vehicles, logistics, and conversion requirements with a fleet buyer or potential partner.
- Technical Knowledge: An understanding of LCV conversion, upfitting, or vehicle preparation processes is a plus, though not essential full training will be provided.
- Communication: Strong prospecting, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels from fleet managers to directors and external partner organisations.
- Licence: A full, valid UK driving licence is required as you will travel regularly to meet clients.
Why Join Us?
- Autonomy: You will own your own pipeline and have genuine influence over which sectors, accounts, and partnerships the business pursues.
- Variety: This role combines direct new business development with strategic partnership building — a broader and more varied remit than a standard account-based sales role.
- Full Portfolio: You will have both a Core logistics offering and a specialist Convertor division behind you, giving you a differentiated proposition that most competitors cannot match.
- Growth: Mentorship from the UK Head of Sales and a clear path to develop your career within the wider NVD Group as the business scales.
Pay & Benefits: £50,000 to £75,000 OTE. Death In Service Benefit. Digital GP. Pension Scheme. Staff Purchase Schemes: Tyres and Tools. Employee Assistance Programme. Bike to Work.
