NUPAS is expanding! The post holder will work to provide the highest standards of patient care and perform competencies as required as a Receptionist/Administrator/health care support worker. The successful applicant must be prepared to travel throughout Staffordshire & the West Midlands clinics, delivering a supportive and non-judgemental service to patients and their supporters attending NUPAS clinics. Co-ordinating the patient pathway throughout the patient's time during the clinic. The applicant will undertake and achieve training specific to the role, including the care certificate and will support with relevant clinical procedures once appropriate training has been provided.
Main duties of the job
- Assist colleagues during the sensitive examination and treatment of patients within the department, treating them with respect and always promoting their dignity and comfort.
- Chaperone as required with procedures, recognising when patients' condition deteriorates and escalating as required.
- Work in a caring, professional, and co-operative way with patients, their significant others, and colleagues.
- Undertake pregnancy tests and record results as required.
- Stock clinical areas and maintain the clinical/administrative environment to a high standard.
- Order and receive stock as necessary.
- Ensure infection prevention policies are always adhered to.
- Respect the confidentiality of information both on and off duty.
- Understand the principles of confidentiality, effective verbal and written communication and the recording of appropriate documentation.
- Theatre support as required.
- Deliver a consistent, patient-centred, caring service.
- Ensure all patient case notes are processed in a consistent and timely fashion in line with monthly invoicing requirements.
- Liaise with clinical and medical staff regarding patient and medical queries.
- Co-ordinate patient treatment pathway throughout time in the clinic.
- Co-ordinate and facilitate the delivery of patient prescriptions and legal documents.
- Prepare and complete Patient notes.
- Referrals to external providers or NHS Hospitals.
- Undertake cashiering duties.
Person Specification
- Essential: Level 2 qualification (e.g. GCSE Grade A-C, NVQ2) in a Health-related subject or Business Administration or a good standard of general education to GCSE level. Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment.
- Desirable: Care certificate.
- Essential: Recent reception and general clerical work experience or recent Healthcare Assistant experience.
- Experience of communicating effectively with people in various situations.
- Understanding of the Data Protection Act and code of confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Positive non-judgemental approach, and pro-choice is essential.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training.
