Job Description

Summary

Working as part of a small and passionate team and based in the tranquil surroundings of Grantham House, we’re looking for two Service Assistants to provide our supporters with memorable and engaging experiences, excellent customer service, and to assist with day-to-day operations.

Salary:£11.50 per hour. We’re currently undertaking our pay review process, and it is likely that this salary will be increased from 1st April 2025.

Hours: This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility. The role will be involved in the delivery of programming activities and events on site and supporting day-to-day operations during our peak periods; therefore, you will work regular weekends, bank holidays and school holidays. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible. In terms of hours we'll off approx. 350-435 hours across the contracted period and will be based around weekends and school holidays.

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 26th March 2025.

Reporting to the Local Partnerships Co-Ordinator you'll be driving visitor experiences and engagement at Grantham House. Working both inside and out, you will support with the planning and delivery of activities and events, assist with day-to-day operations and always ensure that everyone feels welcome.

Built in 1450, Grantham House is a new property joining the North Lincolnshire Portfolio (including Belton Estate and Woolsthorpe Manor),  providing essential access to all to green space and heritage in the heart of the market town of Grantham.

What you'll be doing

Most importantly, you’ll be talking to visitors, answering their questions and making sure they can find everything they need to enjoy their day. 

We’re looking for two Service Assistants to join us at Grantham House to help the team deliver memorable and engaging experiences and assist with day-to-day operations of the site.

You'll directly support in the planning and delivery of programming and events throughout the year, giving visitors memorable experiences and reason to return, time and time again. Working as part of a small team, you’ll also support across the property as and when required, including in the second-hand bookshop, gardens, and tearoom.

No two days are the same and you’ll get involved in all kinds of tasks, including greeting visitors, taking payments, restocking shelves in the bookshop, and clearing tables in the tearoom. You’ll deliver the highest standards of presentation at the property, taking great care in the details.

 Visitors are a vital part of what we do, so you’ll be responsible for providing an excellent service to all our supporters. Most importantly, you’ll be talking to visitors, answering their questions and making sure they can find everything they need to enjoy their day. You'll link everything we do back to our cause, promoting events, offers, products and benefits of actively supporting the National Trust.
