We have an exciting opportunity to join our Prospect Development Team as a Fundraising Research Officer on a 6-month fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension.   To help ensure that our work in conservation and for nature continues, and that everyone feels welcome and enjoys access to our places, we are embarking on a new phase of our fundraising strategy, with dedicated ambitions for significant growth and striving for excellence.  What it’s like to work here: We’re a diverse and vibrant organisation and we look after some of country’s most beautiful and interesting places, bringing to life our work, and the properties in our care.    Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview. What you’ll be doing: As our Fundraising Research Officer, you’ll be responsible for proactively and reactively researching individuals, charitable trusts and foundations, corporates and other organisations to support our ambitious fundraising teams.   Working closely with the Fundraising Portfolio Manager you’ll ensure fundraising activity is supported across the orginisation with robust research.   You’ll provide information, biographies and contribute to briefing notes to support meetings, guest lists, proposals and asks as well as conducting due diligence in line with organisational guidance.   You’ll work closely with all fundraising teams both centrally and regionally, and with the corporate partnerships team.  Who we’re looking for: You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. We’d love to hear from you if you have:  Knowledge or experience of prospect research and its techniques.  Up to date knowledge of available research tools and experience in using them to collate detailed prospect information.  IT literacy, including Microsoft programmes.  Information management skills and the ability to assess and consolidate information rapidly, identify key points and draw conclusions.  Experience as a record keeper, ensuring accurate financial reporting to inform future relationships with donors including report writing and presentations.  An enthusiasm for your work, self-motivated and able to demonstrate initiative and proactivity.  The package: The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart.
