Assistant Internal Communications Officer

Full-Time On-site
N

We are lookingfor a Assistant Internal Communications Officer to join the National Theatre's Communications team.

The Assistant Internal Communications Officer will play a key role in supporting the continued development and establishment of the Internal Comms function at the National Theatre. With around 1,000 staff and many freelancers working with the NT each year, this is a large and varied internal audience. Working closely with the Internal Communications Manager, the role will help deliver clear, timely and engaging communications that keep colleagues informed, involved and connected to the organisation and its work. A central focus of the role will be supporting the coordination and delivery of regular and ad hoc staff events, including Company Meetings, Senior Management Forums and Town Halls. Alongside this, the Assistant Internal Communications Officer will draft and support the delivery of communications plans, creating clear, accessible and inclusive content for the intranet, newsletters, internal emails and digital screens. The role will also support the administrative needs of the Internal Comms team and wider Communications team, helping to keep work organised and on track. This is a key moment for the National Theatre as we continue to build a more connected, transparent and inclusive culture. Working in partnership with the People & Culture team and colleagues across the organisation, the Assistant Internal Communications Officer will help foster authentic, values-driven dialogue, support stakeholders to engage colleagues confidently and help bring the NT’s purpose to life for everyone who works here.

The successful candidates will have the following:

  • Experience in internal communications, PR or media.

  • Experience of drafting and delivering communications plans and creating content for different audiences and channels.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, engagingly and accessibly, proofread content and check information for accuracy.

  • Experience of coordinating meetings, events or projects, with the ability to bring together information, materials and contributors to support successful delivery.

  • Demonstrable planning, administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy workload, balance multiple priorities and deadlines and respond to changing demand.

  • The ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, follow up proactively and work collaboratively to see tasks through to completion.

If that sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you!

We want to understand each candidates skills, experience, and perspectives, so we encourage you to complete your application using your own words. While generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be a useful tool for exploring ideas or structuring responses, applications that rely heavily on AI-generated content can appear generic and make it difficult for us to assess your individual experience.

If you choose to use AI during the application process, please use it only as a tool to help draft and structure your ideas, check your spelling and grammar, and guide your writing, while ensuring the personal experiences are entirely your own words. Responses that do not demonstrate your own voice may affect how your application is assessed and could result in it not being progressed.

Working with us will give you..
