The Apprentice Property Maintenance role supports the day-to-day maintenance and repair needs of all National Star properties. You will work alongside experienced property maintenance staff to perform basic repairs, preventative maintenance, and site upkeep while learning trade skills and maintenance best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with general maintenance tasks (e.g., minor plumbing, basic carpentry, patching and painting).
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance checks and report issues.
  • Help maintain property common areas and grounds (cleaning, waste removal, minor landscaping support).
  • Assist with troubleshooting and basic repairs under supervision.
  • Carry out inspections and complete maintenance checklists.
  • Follow safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and safe work practices.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good condition and report damage or loss.
  • Document work completed (basic notes, checklists, photos where required).
  • Provide customer/service support by keeping work areas clean and communicating updates to residents or team members as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in property maintenance/trade work.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfortable using hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Good communication skills and a respectful, professional attitude.
  • Ability to work in a variety of conditions (indoor/outdoor, occasional heights/ladder work).

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Interest or experience in maintenance, construction, or a related trade.
  • Any of the following would be a plus:
    • Basic plumbing/electrical knowledge
    • Painting/patching experience
    • Valid driver’s license.
