An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Device Technician to join our IT Department at Ullenwood.

Job Purpose

To support the IT Service Desk team with administrative and core technology tasks. Managing IT equipment and asset register databases, configuring equipment for end user use and maintaining the stock levels to ensure that core IT hardware is available where required.

Asset Management

  • Take ownership of the hardware refresh of all devices each year by preparing the devices to the standard build and allocating them to end users.
  • For any specialised software requirements, escalate to IT engineers to ensure devices provided to end users have all the required software.
  • Manage the asset register to reflect changes in device ownership due to staff transitions, starters and leavers.
  • Oversee stock levels of IT equipment, ensuring adequate backup inventory of essential items, including but not limited to laptop docking stations, mice, keyboards, monitors, headsets, and webcams.
  • Manage the return of hardware from departing employees, ensuring all IT equipment is returned to the department and following up with management if items are not returned.
  • Oversee loan equipment management by preparing items for collection by staff, ensuring they remain charged, and following up with users for timely returns.
  • Periodic reviews of mobile devices deployed through Microsoft Intune to identify devices that are seeing low usage or should have been returned from leavers.

Technical Skills

  • Build and image laptops, phones, and tablets to a standardised configuration.
  • Conduct weekly checks in shared meeting spaces to ensure all hardware is functioning correctly, batteries are replaced as needed, and IT equipment is left tidy and presentable.
  • Assign users to relevant security groups as necessary to ensure they have access to the email groups pertinent to their roles.
  • Disable and manage accounts for departing employees, and if email forwarding or data management is required, escalate to an engineer with all necessary information for task completion.
  • Assist with equipment setup and provide support for events and presentations, including projectors, computers, PA’s, video conferencing and video streaming following lead from a ServiceDesk Engineer.
  • Provide basic IT support and training to assist users with utilising devices to their full potential.
  • Ensuring that printer toner levels are adequate and replacing as required.
