Our client is seeking an experienced Work Based Learning Manager to lead, grow and assure high-quality apprenticeship and work-based learning provision within our Construction & Motor Vehicle curriculum area.
The Work Based Learning Manager will be reporting to the Head of Department, you will be responsible for the strategic development, quality, performance and day-to-day delivery of all work-based learning programmes. You will lead a team of assessors, drive employer engagement, ensure compliance with funding and awarding body requirements, and deliver strong learner outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Employer Engagement
- Grow apprenticeship and work-based learning provision through effective employer engagement
- Respond to employer needs across apprenticeships and full-cost provision
- Promote apprenticeships through careers events, schools and external partners.
- Curriculum & Quality
- Design and manage high-quality work-based curricula aligned to employer, awarding body and contractual requirements
- Lead quality assurance, internal verification and awarding organisation compliance
- Monitor performance, success rates, retention and timely achievement
- Contribute to Self-Assessment Reports (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plans
- Learner Performance
- Oversee recruitment, induction, progress monitoring and safeguarding of learners
- Ensure workplace health & safety compliance
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusive outcomes for all learners
- Leadership & Staff Management
- Line manage assessors and quality staff, including recruitment, induction, appraisal and performance management
- Lead CPD, occupational updating and quality improvement activity
- Carry out deep dives, observations and quality reviews
- Operations & Compliance
- Manage budgets, forecasting and value for money
- Produce performance reports and action plans
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety and College policies
What They Are Looking For
Essential
- Level 3 vocational qualification in a relevant area
- A1/TAQA Assessor qualification
- Teaching or assessing experience in a relevant curriculum area
- Strong knowledge of current apprenticeship standards and funding rules
- Proven experience leading teams and managing performance
- Excellent communication, IT and organisational skills
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusive learning
Desirable
- V1 / Lead IQA qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- Teaching qualification (Cert Ed / PGCE)
- Management qualification
- Significant industrial experience
This role involves regulated activity and requires an Enhanced DBS check, as well as flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends and travel as required.
