The Opportunity
As a Skills Coach you will play a pivotal role in the development and success of apprentices, ensuring their learning is embedded in real-world practice and that they thrive throughout their apprenticeship journey. Key Responsibilities
- Learner Coaching & Support: Manage a caseload of apprentices, delivering personalised 1:1 coaching that encourages reflection, application of learning, and professional growth.
- Assessment & Feedback: Assess project work, assignments, and portfolios through professional discussions and written feedback that is detailed, constructive, and developmentally focused.
- Progress Monitoring: Conduct regular progress reviews, track learner achievements, and set clear, measurable goals to support learners to succeed - and exceed - expectations.
- Learning Embedded in Practice: Support learners in applying knowledge and skills directly within their roles, maximising impact and aligning learning with workplace demands.
- Workshop Facilitation: Support or deliver engaging workshop sessions - both virtually and in person; supporting key elements of the curriculum with contextualised content.
- E-Portfolio Management: Use learning platforms (e.g., Bud) to document progress, support development, and evidence learning outcomes.
- Employer Collaboration: Build strong relationships with employers to align learning with organisational goals, ensuring mutual benefit and ongoing engagement.
- Safeguarding & Compliance: Promote learner safety and well-being, upholding Prevent and safeguarding responsibilities in line with Ofsted and DfE standards.
- Impact & Value Add: Identify opportunities to stretch and challenge learners, champion their development, and provide insights that drive programme and learner success.
- Continuous Improvement: Feed into curriculum and delivery improvements by sharing learner insights and advocating for innovation in teaching and learning approaches.
About You
They are looking for someone who:
- Brings recent and relevant industry experience, ideally in service design, human-centred design, change leadership and management, or innovation.
- Is an experienced apprenticeship coach with a track record of supporting high levels of learner achievement.
- Is an outstanding communicator, motivator, and mentor - able to engage learners at various stages of their careers.
- Understands the apprenticeship landscape, including Ofsted and DfE requirements.
- Thrives in a learner-focused, impact-driven environment and is tech-savvy.
- Is proactive and organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Brings a solutions-focused, collaborative mindset that aligns with the company values.
Your Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
- Experience coaching apprentices within a UK-based training provider.
- Strong understanding of e-portfolios and digital learning tools.
- Demonstrated ability to support learners to embed knowledge in practice and make a measurable impact in their roles.
- Recognised teaching qualification (AET/CET/DET/PGCE).
- Assessor qualification (A1/CAVA).
- Relevant industry experience and qualification at Level 6 or above.
- Familiarity with apprenticeship standards and assessment practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- IQA qualification (L4 IQA) - desirable.
- Maths and English at Level 2 or equivalent.
Location & Working Arrangements
This role offers flexible working arrangements. You can opt for a hybrid setup with 1-2 days per week in our Central London office or work fully remotely in the UK.
