Purpose of the Role
As a an Electrical Installations Lecturer, you will deliver outstanding teaching and learning that enables students to achieve their full potential.
As the Electrical Installations Lecturer, you will play an active role in curriculum development, course design and the continuous improvement of the Electrical Installation provision, whilst supporting learners throughout their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching and Learning
- Deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching across Electrical Installation programmes. As well as Embed English, maths and digital skills within vocational learning.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lessons that inspire learners of different ages, abilities and backgrounds. Aswell as Prepare and maintain schemes of work and assessment plans.
- Teach to an agreed timetable, which may include evenings, Saturdays and summer delivery.
- Design and develop high-quality learning resources, including lesson materials, assignments, assessments and digital content.
- Prepare and maintain schemes of work and assessment plans.
- Assess learner work in accordance with awarding organisation requirements, ensuring fair, accurate and timely assessment.
- Participate in internal verification, moderation and quality assurance activities.
- Student Support and Personal Tutoring
- Act as a personal tutor, providing guidance, support and encouragement to learners.
- Monitor attendance, progress and achievement, taking appropriate action where required.
- Set and review learner targets and provide constructive feedback.
- Communicate learner progress effectively with parents/carers, employers and other stakeholders where appropriate.
- Support learners undertaking industry placements and work-based learning.
- Curriculum Development
- Contribute to the planning, review and continuous improvement of Electrical Installation programmes.
- Support the development of new curriculum initiatives and learning opportunities.
- Identify resource requirements to support effective teaching and learning.
- Maintain effective relationships with awarding organisations and external quality assurance representatives.
- Student Recruitment and Promotion
- Support student recruitment and admissions activities.
- Represent the our client at internal and external promotional events.
- Contribute to marketing and promotional materials for the curriculum area.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation.
- GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above or equivalent).
Desirable Qualifications
- Level 5 qualification or degree in Construction or the Built Environment.
- Certificate in Education, PGCE, DTLLS or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Assessor qualification (A1 or equivalent).
- Internal Quality Assurance qualification (V1 or equivalent).
- Additional construction or building services qualifications.
Essential Experience
- Significant recent industrial experience within the Electrical Installation sector. Or Knowledge of Electrical Installation qualifications, standards and NVQ requirements.
- Current knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to the industry.
- Awareness of Further Education qualifications and curriculum requirements.
- Experience of working with learners, apprentices or training others. Or Teaching or lecturing within Further Education.
