We are looking to recruit a permanent, full time Life Skills & Food Safety Tutor that can do more than just deliver training but can also engage and inspire learners that have had little or no prior education.

Based on-site at HMP The Mount, the Life Skills Tutor will be working with small groups of prison-based learners to develop their skills, knowledge and behaviours while supporting them with their long-term goals and aspirations. Their Tutors ensure that the appropriate training plans are in place and that the advice and guidance is given when required while ensuring they deliver the highest level of quality courses that engage with the learners and help them to reach their potential.

What we are looking for:

  • The Life Skills Tutor should hold a Level 2 Vocational qualification
  • An expert in your field with substantial vocational experience in one or more of the above listed subjects
  • Experience of delivering vocational based training
  • A teaching or assessing qualification is desirable
  • Ability to display a wide range of training methods to engage learners

If you don’t currently hold a teaching or assessing qualification, they are able to support you through the appropriate qualifications and assessments, as part of your probationary period.

About our client:

They are committed to transforming the lives of people with convictions through their work in prisons. Their services have been designed to tackle the underlying causes of offending behaviour so people can make positive changes to their lives. With more than 500 people working to support people with convictions in custody and in the community, they bring passion, experience and innovation to public sector rehabilitation services. They also work with specialist partner organisations to help people move away from their past and look forward to a brighter future. All of their services are designed in partnership with the people who they are trying to help and away from their direct work with people serving their sentences, they are working hard to change attitudes towards people who can often be tarnished unfairly following criminal convictions.
