Trainer/Assessor – Construction (Electrical Installations)

Location: Cambridge

Salary: Β£31,110–£36,157

Hours: 37 per week

Role Purpose

Deliver high-quality coaching, mentoring and assessment to a caseload of Electrical Installations apprentices. Maintain strong relationships with employers, support learner progress, and ensure all apprenticeship standards, KSBs and EPA requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learner Support & Training
  • Manage a caseload of learners, delivering coaching, mentoring, and training.
  • Complete progress reviews and provide feedback to learners and employers.
  • Plan and deliver learning and assessment, including English, maths and KSB development.
  • Prepare learners for gateway and EPA, ensuring training plans are clear and aligned to standards.
  • Deliver training on employer premises and develop learning materials and resources.
  • Track off-the-job training and maintain accurate learner documentation.
  • Support pastoral needs, promoting safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and wellbeing.
  • Assessment & Quality
    • Carry out sign-up, initial assessment and ongoing assessment activities.
    • Record progress, set targets, and ensure fair access to assessment.
    • Support learners in building e-portfolios.
    • Comply with Awarding Organisation requirements and participate in quality assurance processes.
  • Administration
    • Interview and assess new applicants for programme suitability.
    • Register learners with Awarding Organisations and maintain accurate electronic records.
    • Document completions, withdrawals and visit records.
    • Attend meetings as required and help monitor KPIs.
  • Employer Engagement & Business Development
    • Build strong employer relationships and identify new business opportunities.
    • Support employer understanding of their responsibilities and EPA processes.
    • Recruit new learners and attend events to promote programmes.

    Additional Responsibilities by Level

    • Trainer Assessor 1
    • Must hold Level 3 TAQA (or equivalent).
    • Mentor and countersign trainee assessors.
  • Trainer Assessor 2 (Progression dependent on business need)
    • Contribute to IQA strategy and produce/update IQA plans.
    • Support, observe and mentor other assessors.
    • Lead standardisation meetings where appropriate.
    • Liaise with awarding bodies and support external quality assurance visits.
    • Maintain assessment and IQA caseload.

    Requirements

    Essential

    • Level 3 vocational qualification in Electrical Installations with current CPD.
    • TAQA/Assessing Qualification (A1 or equivalent).
    • Relevant industry experience (Electrical Installations).
    • Willingness to travel across sites and comply with lone working and safeguarding requirements.
    • Enhanced DBS check (regulated activity).
