Contract: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours per week, full year)

Salary: Β£29,500 – Β£43,500 per annum (pro rata for part time)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Carpentry Lecturer to deliver high-quality teaching and learning across their Construction & Building Services provision. As the Carpentry Lecturer, you will inspire learners of all ages and abilities, contribute to course development, and support student progression both academically and personally. Teaching may include evenings, Saturdays, and summer periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and assessment in Carpentry programmes
  • Prepare schemes of work, assessment plans, and learning resources
  • Act as a course tutor, tracking progress and supporting learner achievement
  • Carry out assessment, moderation, and verification activities
  • Integrate Maths and English into the vocational curriculum
  • Support student recruitment, admissions, and promotional events
  • Liaise with employers, awarding bodies, and external verifiers
  • Develop and maintain strong industrial links
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, equality, and data protection policies

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Level 2 (or above) vocational qualification in Site Carpentry
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C / 4 or equivalent)
  • Substantial, recent industry experience in Carpentry
  • Recent experience teaching, lecturing, or training others
  • Strong communication, organisation, and IT skills
  • Ability to motivate learners of all ages and abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and diversity

Desirable (or willingness to work towards):

  • Teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE, DET/DTLLS or equivalent)
  • Assessor (A1) and Internal Verifier (V1) qualifications
  • In-depth knowledge of current Carpentry curriculum requirements

Additional Information

  • This role is classed as regulated activity and requires an enhanced DBS check
  • Evening and weekend work may be required
  • Travel may be necessary
