Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Consultant with a strong background in apprenticeship sales to drive employer engagement and revenue growth nationwide. The role focuses on selling apprenticeship and training solutions to levy and non‑levy paying employers using a consultative, solutions‑led approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage and develop relationships with employers nationwide to maximise apprenticeship levy use and promote training solutions.
- Identify employer needs, close skills gaps, and propose apprenticeship, work experience, and commercial training solutions.
- Develop and manage a territory plan to generate new business.
- Manage employer accounts end‑to‑end, from initial contact through delivery, evaluation, and repeat business.
- Generate and manage a sales pipeline, ensuring accurate CRM and reporting updates.
- Lead Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account administration in line with ESFA requirements.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, apprenticeship recruitment, and senior stakeholders to meet income and KPI targets.
- Identify opportunities for higher apprenticeships, HNC/HNDs, and CPD provision.
- Attend networking events and represent our client at recruitment and promotional activities.
General Duties

- Participate in training, open days, and other activities as required.
- Adopt a flexible approach in response to changing business needs.
Person Specification
Essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
- Proven consultative sales experience within the education/apprenticeship sector.
- Experience selling apprenticeships to levy‑paying employers.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
- Track record of meeting sales targets and generating new business.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship funding rules and FE sector.
- Ability to manage pipelines, CRM systems, and multiple priorities.
- Strong IT, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- Self‑motivated, results‑driven, and able to work independently.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
Desirable
- Level 3 qualification (A Level or equivalent).
- Understanding of apprenticeship funding reforms.
