Our client is an experienced Dental Apprenticeship Training Provider dedicated to initiating and furthering the careers of Dental Nurses and Practice Managers.

As the Curriculum and Quality Lead for Dental Nurse Level 3 Apprenticeships, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the apprenticeship provision is high quality, fully compliant, employer-responsive, and inspection-ready at all times. The Curriculum and Quality Lead focuses on curriculum intent, implementation, and impact, ensuring that apprentices achieve excellent outcomes, employers receive a high-quality training offer, and the provision fully meets DfE funding rules, Apprenticeship Standard requirements, General Dental Council (GDC) standards, and Ofsted Inspection Framework expectations. The postholder will play a critical role in driving continuous quality improvement, supporting delivery staff, and ensuring that all aspects of the programme are robust, scalable, and auditable.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Design and Oversight
    • Lead the design, sequencing and delivery of the Level 3 Dental Nurse apprenticeship curriculum in line with:
    • Ensure curriculum plans clearly demonstrate what apprentices will learn, when, and why, and how knowledge, skills and behaviours build over time.
    • Embed off-the-job training effectively, ensuring it is planned, tracked, and evidenced in line with DfE rules.
  • Quality Assurance and Improvement
    • Support internal quality assurance (IQA) systems, including:
    • Monitor apprenticeship performance data (starts, retention, progress, achievement, EPA outcomes).
    • Lead on Dental Nurse contribution to the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
    • Implement timely and measurable actions where quality or performance concerns are identified.
    • Ensure the provision is continuously ready for monitoring visits, audits and Ofsted inspection.
  • Teaching, Learning and Assessment Standards
    • Set and monitor high expectations for teaching, learning and assessment across the Dental Nurse programme.
    • Provide coaching, mentoring and professional development to tutors, assessors and IQAs.
    • Ensure assessment practices are valid, reliable, timely and consistent.
    • Oversee learner preparedness for Apprenticeship Assessment (AA) and track outcomes to improve performance.
  • Compliance and Funding Requirements
    • Ensure full compliance with:
    • DfE Apprenticeship Funding Rules
    • Apprenticeship Agreement and Commitment Statement requirements
    • Awarding Organisation and EPAO requirements
    • GDC standards and documentation
    • Maintain oversight of learner files, evidence portfolios and progress reviews to ensure they are accurate, complete and auditable.
    • Identify and mitigate any funding or compliance risks promptly.
  • Employer Engagement and Stakeholder Management
    • Develop and maintain strong, effective relationships with employers and dental practices.
    • Ensure employers understand their role in:
    • Supporting apprentice development, Off-the-job training and Reviews and AA preparation
    • Use employer feedback to inform curriculum development and quality improvement.
  • Organisational Leadership and Quality Contribution
    • Provide curriculum and quality leadership within the wider apprenticeship provision.
    • Support organisational preparation for inspections, audits and external reviews.
    • Contribute to quality boards, performance reviews and strategic planning.
    • Promote a culture of high standards, accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and/or Experience Required

Experience – Essential:

  • General Dental Council (GDC) Registration.
  • IQA Qualification.
  • Experience in curriculum design and regulatory compliance.
  • Recognised Dental Nursing qualification and Curriculum design and regulatory compliance: 3 years

Experience – Desirable:

  • Teaching/tutoring experience – desirable
  • Experience of apprenticeship delivery within an ITP, FE or work-based learning setting – desirable
  • Knowledge of Ofsted EIF, apprenticeship funding rules and compliance requirements – desirable
  • Experience of quality assurance and continuous improvement processes – desirable
