Role Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Events and Hospitality, the Senior Hospitality and Events Manager will play a key role in maximising income and enhancing the performance of the Gallery’s hospitality partnerships. Managing day-to-day relationships with the Gallery’s two hospitality partners, the post holder will monitor commercial and operational performance, identify opportunities for growth and ensure services deliver a high-quality customer experience in line with the Gallery’s standards and contractual requirements. The role will also support the development of new hospitality initiatives and contribute to the sales and delivery events, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to maximise commercial opportunities.


Key Accountabilities:

Hospitality partnership management: Manage day-to-day relationships with the Gallery’s two hospitality partners, ensuring effective communication, strong collaboration and delivery against agreed contractual requirements and service standards. Support the Head of Events and Hospitality in preparing for, and attend monthly management meetings with both hospitality partners.

Commercial performance and income generation: Monitor financial and operational performance, review KPIs and identify opportunities to increase income, improve commercial returns and enhance the customer experience.

Contract and service delivery: Work with hospitality partners to maintain high standards of service, address performance issues and ensure hospitality operations meet the Gallery’s expectations and requirements.

Hospitality development and continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve existing services and support the development and implementation of new hospitality initiatives that align with the Gallery’s commercial objectives.

Event sales and delivery: Manage enquiries, develop proposals and coordinate delivery with clients, hospitality partners and internal teams to secure income and deliver well-organised, high-quality events.

Cross-departmental collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across Commercial, Development, Estates & Operations, Communications, Visitor Experience and Finance to coordinate activity, resolve operational challenges and support the effective use of Gallery spaces.

Performance reporting and problem-solving: Use financial information, performance data and customer feedback to inform decisions, resolve issues proactively, recommend improvements and escalate significant risks or concerns when appropriate.

Key Experience, Skills and Criteria:

  • Relevant professional experience in hospitality, contract management, commercial operations, events or a similar customer-facing environment.
  • Experience of building and maintaining effective relationships with external partners, clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial and numerical awareness, with the ability to interpret financial information, monitor performance against KPIs and identify opportunities to improve income or operational effectiveness.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple activities and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear proposals, resolve issues constructively and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • An understanding of event sales and operations, including managing enquiries, developing proposals and coordinating event delivery.
  • A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach, with sound judgement, strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and escalate issues appropriately.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across teams and balance commercial objectives with operational requirements and a high-quality customer experience.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.
