About the Role

We are looking for a Higher Engineer to join our Manufacturing Metrology Group. This group is based in Huddersfield and has a mission to provide confidence in measurement to manufacturing companies across the UK. Due to an increasing focus on non-contact metrology techniques, we are looking for a metrologist to undertake a hands-on role and that can supplement our skills in this area, while still having an interest and preferably experience in traditional CMM measurement.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Assisting in delivering dimensional measurement to manufacturing, and to be part of research projects into developing methods of measurement.
  • Working with external customers as well as on internal research projects.
  • Developing measurement strategies and taking measurements.
  • Processing, interpreting and reporting on data.

We are now working in a hybrid way, with a mix of remote and office working. We strive to offer a great work-life balance. This will be dependent on the kind of role you do and part of the business you work in. As this role involves the use of measurement equipment in our laboratories, it is anticipated that you will spend a majority of your time on site here in Huddersfield.

About You

Skills and experience that you can bring to the role:

  • Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline.
  • Experienced in using at least one and preferably more non-contact metrology systems.
  • Proven experience in extracting features from point cloud data.
  • Some experience in MCosmos, PCDMIS or Calypso, with an understanding of CMM measurement.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, the ability to communicate with colleagues and customers with a range of technical backgrounds.
  • An organised and systematic approach, with an emphasis on quality of delivery.

We would also welcome the following:

  • Strong understanding of common manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in manufacturing quality, process engineering or continuous improvement projects.
