We are looking to appoint a Training Delivery Specialist to teach good metrology, best practice and inspire future metrologists.
NPL Training designs, creates and delivers training in measurement science, for learners in science and industry.
We have created accredited programmes of study, and our ‘Metrology Technician Apprenticeship’ is the UK’s first apprenticeship curriculum in measurement science.
We also provide training to industry to help develop metrological knowledge and skills that can have a direct impact on productivity and profitability.
Known internally as a Training Delivery Specialist you will be based at our Teddington site where you will teach and support learners on our apprenticeship programme.
This includes travel around the UK to periodically attend apprentice’s place of work.
In addition, you will also deliver training courses to learners at customer sites throughout the UK.
Key responsibilities include delivering our high-quality apprenticeship curriculum and delivering engaging industry training.
- Working as part of a team develop and deliver engaging teaching material
- Sharing best practice in pedagogy and classroom management with colleagues,
- Assessing our apprentices in a wide range of measurement areas.
- Providing pastoral support to our apprentices, including coaching and mentoring.
- Conducting monitoring reviews and observations at apprentices’ place of work.
- Develop opportunities and delivering classroom training to industry.
- Developing, maintaining, and updating accurate learner records, ensuring all statutory requirements are met.
- Developing and maintaining your knowledge, skills and experiences in teaching practice and measurement science to stay up to date with new developments in the field and to identify new material and support business development
Ideally, this role would be filled by an experienced teacher/trainer/assessor with proven classroom teaching experience and a background in the physical sciences.
This role will involve adding to, and working with, the complementary skillsets of a tight-knit team of people.
It will likely involve a steep and exciting learning curve for the successful candidate.
That does mean, however, that we place great emphasis on self-motivation and resilience, the ability to follow systems and procedures correctly, the ability to learn quickly and independently, and above all a pride in your work, attention to detail and a focus on quality.
- Recent and proven experience in applied measurement.
- Excellent communication skills and a track record communicating complex topics clearly.
- Experience of working well independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Proficiency with science instrumentation and IT systems and demonstrable ability to learn quickly.
- Strong time and workload management skills.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Recent and proven experience in Dimensional measurement, using state of the art tools and techniques.
- A teaching and/or Vocational Assessor qualification.
- Experience of working in an educational environment.
- Mentoring experience.
- Experience with educational theories and practices.
