About the Role

Senior Data Center Project Manager at National Physical Laboratory (NPL) / UKTL. You will own and deploy infrastructure in a secure-by-design environment, shaping IT architectures that support modern containerised and virtualised telecom applications.

What You’ll Do

  • Deploying Architecture and supporting a Telecoms Test Lab: manage the delivery of compute servers, switching fabrics, container platforms, and applications to support systems under test.
  • Translating Vision into Action: take high-level business and technical requirements and break them down into actionable scopes for cross-functional teams.
  • Capturing Requirements: work with build, operations, and test teams to gather and document needs that shape lab architecture.
  • Keeping Stakeholders Informed: produce regular reports and updates to align internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing Vendors: oversee third-party suppliers, ensuring documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and stored correctly.
  • Driving Collaboration: coordinate matrixed teams to deliver on technical and business outcomes.
  • Advocating Continuous Improvement: embed stakeholder feedback into project plans to drive ongoing enhancements.
  • We offer flexible working options where business demands permit (full-time, part-time or flexible arrangements).
  • Location: Successful applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Birmingham at least twice a week.

  • Clear Communication: strong ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Nationality, residency and security requirements are tightly defined for this role. You will need to hold SC clearance with no restrictions, or be able to obtain SC clearance.
