NOV MD Totco is seeking a Service Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen. As a Service Engineer, you will be required to have a technical and troubleshooting centred mindset with a hands-on mentality. While performing your job, the aspect of HSE will always be top priority no matter where or with whom you operate. As you will be in direct contact with our customers, it is necessary that you not only know your technical toolbox but also behave and conduct yourself in a customer-friendly manner internally as well as externally. The Service Engineer will be required to be able and willing to travel on short notice and over an extended but manageable period.
You will be required to work with a wide range of people ranging from management level to engineers and rig crews ensuring everybody has a keen understanding of what they are required to do, not to do, and what potential HSE hazards the trainee must be aware of.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Working on all types of drilling rigs surveying, installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repairing M/D Totco branded products in the UK, Europe, and other locations as required. This work must be carried out safely and professionally and often without supervision.
- Liaising with Customers, colleagues, and other personnel within NOV regarding ongoing work and planning of work.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Ensuring maximum effort is given to learn and become competent in MDT products and services.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to HSE and QA policy.
- Make every effort to ensure a safety-focused mindset is always paramount and enforce all safety precautions and practices.
- Reporting and updating relevant documentation in a timely fashion including daily reports, survey reports, drawings, expenses, customer feedback.
- Recommending improvements to products and systems where appropriate with relevant Product Line and Engineering personnel.
- Training customers as necessary.
- Assessment of existing systems and recommendations for upgrades and improvements should be noted and passed to the relevant department.
- Travelling within the UK or internationally at short notice on a regular basis.
- Taking part in the on-call rota if required and providing office and workshop cover as required.
- Performing any other duties as reasonably required by Management, including relief cover for other members of staff on and offshore and attending meetings at various NOV and/or Customer facilities where required.
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering or equivalent.
- Working knowledge within a similar drilling instrumentation position.
- Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook).
