As a Fitter Welder at NOV Hydra Rig, you will play a key role in the manufacture, repair, maintenance, and refurbishment of industry-leading Coiled Tubing and Nitrogen equipment used across the energy sector. Working within our Service team in Great Yarmouth, you'll combine fabrication, welding, and mechanical fitting skills to support the delivery of high-quality equipment while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and reliability. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tradesperson who enjoys hands-on engineering work and wants to expand their skills. Full training will be provided on Hydra Rig Coiled Tubing and Nitrogen equipment, offering genuine opportunities for development and career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fabrication, welding, repair, and refurbishment activities on Hydra Rig Coiled Tubing and Nitrogen units
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical specifications
  • Measure, cut, shape, prepare, and assemble metal components including steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
  • Carry out MIG, TIG, MMA (Stick), and other welding processes as required
  • Assemble and fit mechanical components and fabricated structures
  • Operate workshop equipment including saws, grinders, drills, presses, and bending machinery
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment
  • Support continuous improvement and contribute to efficient workshop operations
  • Participate in cross-training activities to develop knowledge of Hydra Rig equipment and systems

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in fabrication, welding, and mechanical fitting
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience with MIG, TIG, and MMA welding processes
  • Strong understanding of fabrication methods and workshop practices
  • Experience using fabrication machinery, power tools, and hand tools
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice to Have

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Fabrication & Welding, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Forklift, overhead crane, lifting and slinging certifications
  • Experience within oil & gas, energy, manufacturing, heavy engineering, or industrial sectors
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and schematics
  • Previous experience with Coiled Tubing or Nitrogen equipment
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
