As a Fabricator/Welder within our CAP’s site in Great Yarmouth, you will play a key role in the fabrication and welding of structural products including skids, tanks, pipework, and pressure vessel fabrications. You will be responsible for interpreting weld procedures, isometrics, and engineering drawings to determine materials, consumables, and task sequences required for efficient production. This role requires a strong understanding of welding processes, fabrication techniques, and manufacturing practices. You will work closely with other disciplines to maintain workflow continuity, achieve production targets, and ensure on-time delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, fit, and weld structural products including skids, tanks, pipework, and pressure vessels in accordance with engineering drawings and weld procedures.
  • Perform welding activities using SMAW, GMAW, MIG, TIG, and oxy-acetylene processes while maintaining required quality standards.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, weld procedures, and material specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to maintain workflow, meet production schedules, and achieve on-time delivery targets.
  • Maintain welder traceability and comply with procedures for welding consumables and quality requirements.
  • Identify and report any HSE, quality, production, or drawing-related issues through the appropriate channels.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, preventive maintenance activities, and high housekeeping standards within the fabrication shop.
  • Minimise waste and ensure the safe and efficient use of materials, equipment, and consumables.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Time-served apprenticeship or HND in a relevant discipline (Desirable)
  • Working knowledge within a welding & manufacturing environment including the preparation of components
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, where applicable
  • Fabrication techniques MiG, Tig, oxy-acetylene cutting.
  • Working knowledge of offshore skid manufacturing processes (Desirable)
